PCMate Free Registry Cleaner

How to Clean Registry

Introduction

Step 1: Scan Registry

Step 2: Specify Clean Settings

Step 3: Start Cleaning

Introduction

The registry is where Windows XP stores all of your computer's device and file associations, as well as critical information about drivers, directories, Windows applications and more. However, it can become corrupted by spyware and viruses. You need a free registry to help you find the obsolete entries and clean them up to improve your PC's performance. Download and install PCMate Free Registry Cleaner and then follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Scan Registry

Launch PCMate Free Registry Cleaner and you'll see all the registry entries located in the left-side window of the program. By default, all of them are checked to be scanned. You can uncheck any of them if you don't want to scan. Click "Scan Registry" to start scan. Scanning your system takes just a few seconds (depending on how much information you have), and this software finds errors or issues throughout your registry. Once the scan is complete, you are able to see a full list of the issues, from which you can simply identify which section has issues and how many issues it has. Uncheck the issues if you don't want to remove. By a right click, you can select all/none, ignore, or open these registry entries in registry editor.

Select All - choose all the issues to be cleaned

Select None - do not choose any of the issues

Invert Selection - change the order of "Select All" and "Select None"

Excluded Selected - add selected registry keys to the ignore list

View in regedit - open the registry editor

Step 2: Specify Clean Settings

Click "Settings" to expand the "Options" window. In "General" tab, click "Browse..." below the "Select a folder to backup deleted registry entries" to select a folder to backup the current registry. This allows you to reverse any changes in case you don't like them or they cause a conflict with another program. Click "Browse..." below the "Select a folder to save the log files to" to choose another folder to save the log files. You are allowed to check the other options you need from "Log registry scans and fixes", "Re-scan after fixing registry issues", "Create system restore points automatically" and so on.

Click "Ignore List" tab and right click the window to add file/folder/registry path to ignore list so that the registry cleaner will simply pass over those selections and leave them alone. Choose "Remove Entry" to remove the selected entry from this list.

Click "Scheduler" to make the program perform registry cleanup daily, weekly, monthly or never, according to your preference.
